Google has confirmed the release of its March 2026 spam update, which began rolling out today at 12:18 PM PDT.
The update is already active and applies globally across all languages.
This is not a minor algorithmic adjustment. Spam updates are among Google’s more consequential ranking actions, directly targeting sites that rely on:
- manipulative practices,
- low-quality content, or
- policy-violating tactics to rank in Search.
Google confirmed the update via its Search Status Dashboard, noting the rollout may take a few days to fully complete. That means ranking volatility is expected to continue over the coming days as the update propagates across all regions and search environments.
For SEO professionals and website owners, now is the time to monitor Search Console closely.
Sites following Google’s quality guidelines should see little to no impact, while those relying on practices that fall outside them may already be seeing shifts in visibility
